ACTIVITIES ON OL PEJETA

WHERE WILDLIFE, communities & CONSERVATION THRIVE

GAME DRIVES WITH A PRIVATE VEHICLE & GUIDE

Your holiday with us includes the use of a private 4WD safari vehicle and professional guide at no extra cost. That means you’re fully in charge of your own schedule. When you arrive you’ll have a chat with your guide so you can decide on activities, day trips, times and outings that suite you.

Wildlife is abundant in Ol Pejeta; home to lions, cheetah, leopard, rhino, elephant, giraffe, hyena and more. There’s so much to see!

CONSERVATION ACTIVITIES

As well as daily game drives you can get involved in a number of conservation focused activities that are run by Ol Pejeta. Some of the activities we’d recommend are a visit to the Northern White Rhinos, a K9 security team demo and a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzees Sanctuary.

You can see the full list of activities on offer and their respective prices from Ol Pejeta here and click below to read more about how your stay supports their conservation practices.

DAY TRIPS

CHASING WATERFALLS & WILDERNESS

Extend your Kenya safari holiday a night or two and take a day trip to the Aberdares National Park, Ngare Ndare Forest or Mt Kenya National Park. Our central location makes for an ideal base from which to explore some of Laikipia’s more hidden spaces. On a day trip you’ll leave after an early breakfast with your guide and stop for a picnic before returning to camp late afternoon or early evening. It’s important to note that day trips are an extra charge and are subject to weather conditions as most roads will be inaccessible in wet weather.

NGARE NDARE FOREST

The locally owned and run Ngare Ndare forest is a lush, indigenous forest and one of Laikipia’s best kept secrets. Wander through the treetops on the suspended walkway, looking for herds of elephants browsing below you and pack your swimsuit because you’ll definitely want to dive in to the crystal clear, azure pools that tumble through its centre. The best time to visit is the dry season as access can be difficult in wet weather and the pools become more muddied after rains.

ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK

The rolling hills of the Aberdares National Park are home to unique flora and fauna including elephants, waterbuck, buffalo as well as rarer species like giant forest hogs and bongo. The Aberdares is a birders paradise, or pack a fishing rod and try your hand at trout fishing in the cool, clear mountain streams. It’s a short hike to the base of Thompson’s Falls and the humbling view of this tower of water from the pool below is a site you won’t soon forget!

MOUNT KENYA NATIONAL PARK

A hike to the peak might not be on your itinerary but you can still enjoy the landscapes, views and magic of Kirinyaga (the white mountain - so named due to it’s snow-capped peak) on a day trip. You’ll park at Old Moses station and stretch your legs with a gentle hike across the moorland taking in the mountain’s incredible views and unique plant life before relaxing with a picnic and then mooching back to camp through the thick forest that is home to a cacophony of birdlife.
