Get settled in

Nestled in among the towering yellow barked acacia trees in the heart of Ol Pejeta’s Wilderness area, the Safari Cottages enjoy uninterrupted views across a peaceful river valley to the plains beyond. They are spaced well apart to ensure maximum privacy and lovingly decorated with African artefacts and up-cycled furniture. Come home each day to a welcoming fire that warms the open-plan lounge and dining room on chilly evenings.

All rooms open out, via safari-style roll up canvas blinds, onto an extensive veranda stretching the entire length of each cottage where lazy hours often pass by unnoticed. Larger cottages can sleep up to six, the smaller ones accommodate up to three. The bedrooms, available as doubles or twins, are all en-suite and fully-equipped with locally sourced toiletries.

From the kitchen

Sonja’s legendary love of cookery promises mouthwatering menus, many of which feature home-grown, organic ingredients. She effortlessly blends traditional Kenyan dishes with international cuisine and many a guest has found themselves returning home with their trousers just that little bit tighter. Under her watchful eye each cottage has its own personal chef who prepares dishes in an external kitchen to ensure you remain undisturbed and, once ready, delicious meals and well-deserved drinks are served by a dedicated waiter.

Take your pick; you can dine alfresco, on the veranda or in the spacious dining room. And families or larger groups who wish to dine together can do so in their cottage, or enjoy meals hosted by Andy and Sonja on the communal platform overlooking the river and salt lick.

You’ll also find:
